Impact
A touch sensor is attached to the fallen dreadlock and you can hear my blog by touching it in different place
During the quarantine, I didn't feel any human presence for a long time and it made me sad. I realized how important it is to share your ideas with others. A short conversation can inspire you to change something in your life. Most of the time, inspiration comes from strangers. I've asked people around me to share their hair strands with me. It was a very delicate and intimate act to share a part of their body with me.
I developed this project during the international Common Ground project.
At that time, I realized that after a long period of lockdown during the quarantine, I would meet many unfamiliar people who would influence me for some time, and perhaps even leave a mark on my creativity.
So I decided to let them influence me completely—to feel their energy directly, always through my hair and theirs.
First, I had to get to know them because I wanted to know what kind of energy they would bring to me.
I asked them a few questions.
not always all of them...
not always in order...
But always finished with the latest one:
Could you share a hair strand with me?
Can you tell me about your childhood?
It's incredible how much you can learn about a person from a question about their childhood.
I was attached to my hair like a dreadlock and have been wearing it for half a year.
